Daily Reminder

This post is different from the norm. I tend to get stressed over things that are really not a big deal. If you know me, you know that. :-)Here is my latest source of unnecessary stress:

Last week, we found out Miller's crib had been recalled. We are having a lot of drama getting a new crib (We ordered one last week but received invalid tracking information and have no clue where it is or when it might get to us). I have been on the phone numerous times today with various customer service reps. trying to locate the crib, and they were all puzzled and blamed the issue on someone else (Babies R Us: "It's FedEx's fault." FedEx: "It's the crib vendor's fault." Crib Vendor: "It's Babies R Us's fault."). I became very frustrated and realized that it was truly affecting our day--and not in a good way.

I prayed for God to help me get over it--to move on and recognize this for the relatively insignificant situation that it is--and this verse came to mind:

"Finally, brothers, whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable--if anything is excellent or praiseworthy--think about such things." --Philippians 4:8

I'm going to do that today. I'm going to try VERY hard to think about lovely things, to be thankful for everything I have, and to enjoy this wonderful day I have been given with my family. Thank you, God, for daily reminders that we do not have to be controlled by the negative things in life, big or small. Thank you for giving us joy, peace, and abundant blessings!

Miller and Colby's Haircut

Miller and his buddy Colby got their hair cut together today. Miller got to sit in a car during his haircut, and Colby got to sit in a boat. The place was neat! Here is a picture of the two sweet boys post-haircut. Hope everyone is having a great weekend!

Jeff's Undiscovered Talent

Yep. He's gonna be a hair stylist. :-) Maggie got another sweet Valentine's package that had some cute clippies in it. She asked Jeff to fix her hair, and, well, I think he's found his moonlighting job.

Maggie's Semi-Newly Painted Room

I have to brag on my husband, who is super-creative and a star wall-painter (neither of which I am). He repainted part of Maggie's room this past week, and she now has stripes on one of her walls. You'll see in one of the pictures that we are trying to START teaching Maggie to identify letters and letter sounds. When I asked her if she wanted to learn how to read, she said, "No! I want you to read to me, Mommy!" We'll see how this letter-learning goes. :-) Hope everyone is having a great Sunday!

I Heart Glasses

Ever since neighbor Colby has started wearing his glasses again, Maggie has been obsessed with glasses and has begged for a pair. (May have something to do with the fact that Colby is pretty precious in his glasses!) Well, her wish came true today. She got a sweet Valentine's package in the mail with not one, but FOUR pairs of glasses. She has been wearing one pair and carrying at least one more pair around all night.
